DMWSC's fundraising activities aim at supporting the Mission Centres in the Region. There is also a focus on securing funding for introducing more comprehensive, community based development programmes. The key activities undertaken in this context are highlighted here.

Strengthening Partnership with Mary Ward International

DMWSC provides information on funding requirements to various Mary Ward International Offices. It thus acts as a link between the Mission Centres and the Mary Ward International network. It also sends regular updates and progress reports for sanctioned initiatives/programmes.

Securing Funds through Project/Programme Submissions to Donors

DMWSC is involved in writing project proposals to meet funding requirements of the Mission Centres. Kindermissionwerk, a German funding agency, responded to such a proposal and supported the construction of the hostel building and the Child Development Centre in Dharan. Subsequently, Missio, another German funding agency, supported the extension of the buildings. Manos Unidas (Spain) and Miva (Austria) provided funds for purchasing vehicles in Panighatta and Dharan respectively. Funding support was secured from MWI Australia for programmes in Panighatta, Dharan, Sadam and Siliguri. MWI Ireland has also supported programmes in the above mentioned areas and Lolay. Old scholars from Loreto Marryatville and students from Loreto Adelaide (both in Australia), MWI offices in Ireland and Australia, friends in England and Ireland and Patricia Flattery Foundation provided funds which helped purchase land in Dharan. The Mary Ward Mission Fund supported construction of the DMWSC office building in Siliguri.

Networking with Past Pupils of Loreto Convent, Darjeeling

Interactions with past pupils of Loreto Convent in Darjeeling have been organised in Darjeeling and Kolkata. The emphasis was on creating greater awareness regarding development initiatives in the Region and exploring various options for involving the past pupils. Working with Volunteers Many of the volunteers have been involved in fundraising activities for which DMWSC provides the necessary support. DMWSC maintains contact with all the volunteers who have visited the Region. They are given regular updates about the DMWSC’s activities as well. Participating in Fundraising Events DMWSC is increasingly exploring various channels for fundraising. It supports and participates in such events whenever and wherever possible.
