Acknowledgements

Darjeeling Mary Ward Social Centre's genesis and subsequent journey has been possible only because of the support of a growing body of friends and well wishers. For us, the processes of collaboration and collective action are as important as the outcomes themselves. We would thus like to thank all those who have been a part of this journey. We would like to mention Sr. Antoinette - Provincial Superior of Loreto India who initiated the process, Sr. Monica Affonso - Regional Superior, Darjeeling Region, who supported this new venture and all the Loreto Sisters working in the Region. We are grateful to all our supporters and collaborators (including team members). Varsha Dewan, who helped me in the initial years to set up the organisation, deserves a special vote of thanks. Her enthusiasm and energy was a catalyst, fuelling the process. The international support from the General Leadership and the Mary Ward International Offices in all the Loreto provinces has helped us grow in scale and confidence. A special word of thanks for all the donor agencies and volunteers who have supported the Sisters in the Region. We must also acknowledge the debt we owe to all the Loreto Sisters who have worked and toiled in this land for more than 150 years. It is on their shoulders that we stand as we herald yet another new day!Last but not the least, I would like to thank Ronita Chattopadhyay who helped us to write, compile and design such a wonderful report for the centre.
